BUSINESS NEED
A one-hundred person department at a unicorn mobile application company faced challenges in managing engineering projects effectively due to inconsistent processes and a lack of standardized methodologies. The team had recently been reorganized into 7 different scrum teams.

Through this transformation effort, we were able to drive a 3x average speed of delivery, from a lead time of six weeks to two weeks. The new DevOps process ensured that we remained in compliance with government regulations, while increasing quality and reducing risks and issues with software deployment. In addition, over 50 people were trained in agile and waterfall best practices. This major improvement in turnaround time enabled faster delivery of high-quality features to the business teams that rely on the department’s internally facing products.
APPROACH
1. Design and Implement a New Operating Model
Created an operating model tailored to the new organizational structure, integrating best practices from agile and PMI methodologies into a cohesive agile-waterfall hybrid approach.
2. Launch a Standardized DevOps Process
Led the initiative to standardize the DevOps release process, ensuring consistency and compliance across all teams. This included choosing the right tool, designing the workflow and automation, and aligning cross-functional teams.
3. Train & Coach the Teams; Lead the Change
Trained engineers on tracking work and adhering to new processes, and coached program managers on how to drive adoption and manage their team effectively..
